DAD WAS A WONDERFUL MAN

The last two months brought some big surprises to my family. My dad passed away on 9/17/17 at age 85; my mom is now in a nursing home. Just two months ago, they were both living life independently in their home.

Dad was a wonderful man. He was a musician, a teacher, and a tax preparer. He loved Jesus and lived with a heart of compassion and generosity. When his health deteriorated very rapidly and unexpectedly, we at first began to inquire of the Lord for his healing. He had developed three very serious conditions that would require miracles for him to keep going. I believe in miracles; I have seen miracles, some very recently.

As we continued praying and asking of God, it started to become obvious that the Lord was doing something different: “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die…” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2). We began to discern that this was his season of passing, his time. He was ready; we needed to become ready. The Lord provided a peace that began to engulf us.  “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” (Psalm 116:15)

After I received the call early on the morning of September 17 that he had passed in his sleep, I remembered the rest of the story in Ecclesiastes (1:11): “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Dad is well. All is well with my soul.
