Update...on Everything :)

Updated: Jul 25, 2022

Well, it’s been awhile since I wrote for the blog. (I’ve been very busy and distracted with other things.) The last ten months have been... really something (clarification for future readers—ten months ago is when the COVID-19 pandemic started in my world). Who would have thunk (hillbilly grammar) of what was in store for the whole world as a result of a little microscopic, bug-like, non-living thing? I certainly did not realize on March 12, 2020—when the first case was confirmed here in Greene County—that it would shift global public health and result in economic, political, and social upheaval. God knew, but I didn’t.

My new normal? Well, I know what it looks like today but haven’t a clue what it will look like in six months or one year or five years. Who really knows these things anyway, even apart from a world-changing crisis? Boasting about tomorrow is always a precarious thing (scripture references available upon request).

As my practice began to quickly pivot and change to move forward, there were a few general impressions I believe the Lord gave me. The unknown was upon us, and humility and mercy toward all people and trust in God were going to be indispensable to move forward with any measure of success and compassion. My thoughts today as we are still in the middle of the aforementioned turmoil are the same… humility, mercy, trust. This has been working so far…

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
