Blueberries and Grapes

Recently, I was running late to get out of the house to go to work. I randomly threw some blueberries and grapes in a cup and poured milk over the fruit.

Since I often intermittent fast in the morning, I put the breakfast concoction in the fridge at work. When I went to consume the fruity milk about four hours later, I found the blueberries had plumped up larger than their normal size, and the grapes remained their normal size.

Most people consider blueberries and grapes good-tasting healthy food choices. Both are good sources of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fiber and have a long list of potential health and prevention benefits.

Being the preacher I am, I imagined a few preaching points from my new experimental findings. The absorbent skin on the blueberry allows for flexibility and pliability and guards against rigidity. There are many soul and spirit health benefits for someone who is pliable and adjustable by the Lord in their inner man. Conversely, the tight skin on a grape keeps out unwanted influences of the world, sin, evil, and other toxic soul influences that harm the inner man. (And, there is the old saying when referring to a financial tightwad: “They are as tight as skin on a grape.” Now I understand better how that phrase originated.)

I will say that the milk-infused, plump blueberries seemed to taste significantly better than when in their normal state. The grapes seemed to taste the same as usual, which is delicious. At least, I told myself that I had consumed a healthy lunch.
